Materials:

  • Graphic design program
  • White cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Flat lollipops
  • Double-sided tape
  • Wire-type bag tie
  • Floral tape
  • Clear tape
  • 1/4" hole punch

Instructions:

  1. In your graphic design program, open a blank Standard U.S. Postal Postcard template in a portrait orientation. If you do not have this template available, open a blank 8 1/2" x 11" design area in your graphic design program, draw a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" rectangle, and place it in the top left corner of the design area.
  2. Insert an empty flowerpot image from your graphic files in the center of the card area near the bottom. Other images such as butterflies can also be selected and placed on the card for further embellishment.
  3. Using the text tool in your design program, create the text desired for your card. Resize the text as desired, and place it on the card area.
  4. If you did not have the postcard template in your design program, copy and paste the entire card design on the remaining blank sections of your design area. You should be able to place 4 cards of this size on one page. An easy way to copy and paste the entire card design is to Select All and then Group the elements before copying.
  5. Print the desired number of cards on white cardstock.
  6. Cut the cards and set them aside.
  7. Open a new blank 8 1/2" x 11" design area in your graphic design program.
  8. Select a flower graphic from your graphic files and insert it in the design area. Resize the flower so that it will be slightly larger than the size of the lollipops you are using. Copy and paste this image in the design area until you have enough for the number of cards you are creating.
  9. Select a leaf image from your graphic files and insert it in the design area. Resize it as needed so that it is proportional with the flower image. Text may be added to the leaf image as well, if desired, using the text tool in your design program. Copy and paste this image in the design area until you have enough for the number of cards you are creating.
  10. Print the flower and leaf image page on white cardstock.
  11. Cut out all images.
  12. Using double-sided tape, place the flower image on the lollipop.
  13. Using clear tape, attach a wire-type bag tie to the back of the leaf image. Wrap the remaining wire of the tie around the lollipop stick. Over wrap the lollipop stick with floral tape to secure the leaf and give the stick a stem appearance.
  14. Punch a hole in the card near the top of the flowerpot image. Insert the embellished flower lollipop stem into this hole and secure the stick on the reverse of the card with wide clear tape.
